"The Maz Mitrenko Band is a classic brit blues/rock band based in Birmingham UK. They have a fast growing following wherever they perform, whether it be in local venues or large festivals. Many people will know of Maz through his years with local heroes "The Handsome Beasts" and later with "The Trevor Burton Band" ** Now leading his own power trio, Maz is backed by a combination of well known Midlands musicians including Dave Tandy of MYJO (Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra) on drums; Barry Newey on bass; Paul Turner (Ex Mighty House Rockers) also on bass and Phil Brittle (Ex Quill) on drums. Although the band performs several classic Rory Gallagher tunes, Maz is keen to point out that it is not a conventional tribute act. "The idea" he says "is to invoke the spirit, joy and inventiveness of Rory in his heyday and we like to think that we perform not only Rory's material but also our selected covers and originals in a passionate and honest way that hopefully the man himself would approve of."
